Colombia

Colombia is the perfect place to live. The country is the second most bio-diverse in the world. Located in the north of South America, it has coastline on both the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. It is home to 20% of all species on earth. Colombians will welcome you into their communities with music, dancing, interesting local food, and of course festivals. Nearly every city and town has a festival to celebrate some aspect of Colombian life. Life in Colombia varies from laidback, relaxing beach living in the coastal town of Taganga, to the culture-rich capital city of Bogotá, filled with theaters, churches, and the Gold Museum, which houses the world’s largest collection of Pre-Columbian gold artifacts. Barranquilla, is one of the best cities in Colombia. It is not as big as Bogota, but you will found a city full of color and happiness. The people of Colombia and its government have worked hard to overcome the former, harsh reputation of the country. More than two decades have passed since the infamous days of Pablo Escobar and much of the country is now vibrant and thriving. Multinational companies in the technology, mining, banking, and healthcare sectors have a major presence in Colombia. One thing I love about Colombia is that getting from one place to another is really easy, because places are not far away from each other. What stands out in this country, is Barranquilla's carnival.. It is a carnival full of color and diverse cultures. It is the second largest carnival in the world, surpassed only by Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Much of Barranquilla shuts down during the four days of carnival. Carnival is a blending of various cultures and local traditions and permeates many aspects of the carnival, particularly the dances and musical genres. Carnival in Barranquilla was at first considered a holiday for slaves, and it grew over the years to be a major celebration of the region. To conlude, Colombia is a very diverse country, and an excellent place to live.
